Anakeesta Mountain House: An Alamwar Experience
Anakeesta Mountain House is a stylish and well-appointed mountain cabin situated in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. It is part of the Alamwar Design experience, which offers guests a unique opportunity to experience the beauty and history of the area through the lens of Native American culture.
The cabin is decorated with art and antiques collected from vintage barns and antique stores. These pieces display the history of the area and the life of the people who have lived in the mountains. The space was designed using pieces from Alamwar’s Native collection and artisanal wool collection.
Viji Alamwar Reddy, the founder and design director of Alamwar is an interior designer who has sourced furniture, fabrics, and art that add to the sense of tranquility exuded by the surrounding mountains. The house was twenty years old and after acquiring it a complete renovation was executed updating the entire cabin from the ground up.
Fabrics from our Native collection that pay tribute to global Nomadic & Tribal Cultures were a perfect choice and a great fit to set the stage for the mountain house.
Handwoven throws and blankets made from the various craft clusters that Alamwar works with are also featured throughout the house. These blankets are made by grassroots artisans, some of whom are located in the mountains of the Himalayas and the desert region of Kutch.
Cherokee baskets are seen throughout the house, and their influence can also be seen in the carpets and fabrics. Alamwar’s use of cowrie shells to decorate accent pillows is a reflection of the various tribal artisans they work with.
The cabin has been designed as a getaway to detach from our busy lives.
Anakeesta is perched at the top of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Maggie Valley, North Carolina, just outside of Asheville. Here, guests can experience much-needed peace and tranquility.The cabin is surrounded by lush forests and towering mountains.
The views from the deck are simply breathtaking. Guests can relax on the deck and enjoy the fresh mountain air, or take a hike in the surrounding woods. In the evening, guests can gather around the fire pit and roast marshmallows. They can also cook their meals in the fully equipped kitchen.
